Singapore hosts Vietnamese director’s exhibition

VietNamNet Bridge – On April 4, 2007, famous poet and director Do Minh Tuan’s exhibition titled Daily Carnival with the theme Painting While Waiting opened at Utterly A’rt Gallery in Singapore.
The exhibition includes 14 lacquer paintings and 3 cut-and-paste works by award-winning director Do Minh Tuan, who is known in Vietnam for such movies as Dich Cuoi (Laughing Epidemic), Vua Bai Rac (King of Debris) and Ky Uc Dien Bien (Memories of Dien Bien). Do Minh Tuan worked on these paintings while he was waiting to start a movie project in commemoration of the 1,000th birthday of Thang Long – Hanoi. This is the 3rd time director Do Minh Tuan has staged his own exhibition, as well as the 1st time he has introduced lacquer works, which exude poetry, metaphors and Asian folk art values. Since its establishment, Utterly A’rt has hosted more than 300 exhibitions with the participation of hundreds of artists from all over the world. In 2002, the gallery held an exhibition of a group of Vietnamese painters including Nguyen Quan, Dang Xuan Hoa, and Hoang Hong Cam.
