Franklin Odo, curator of the National Museum of American History, compared and contrasted the clothing worn by a Vietnamese refugee when she left her country after the fall of Saigon and the uniform she wore while working in a nail salon in the United States. From the other end of the immigrant community spectrum, he shows a pair of high fashion shoes from Taryn Rose, a company founded by a Vietnamese American orthopedic designer. In the process, Odo discussed Vietnamese American history over the last three decades.
