Mr. Hyphen contest! The San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival

March 15, 2006

Film festival season is here again—and Hyphen is definitely in the mix. The San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival returns for its 24th year: opening night gala is this Thursday, March 16th at the Asian Art Museum. Hyphen’s a sponsor again this year. Look for our logo all over! (We still do. And when we spot one we elbow each other and giggle. Nerdy but true.)We’re also co-presenting one of the screenings: The Achievers, by Abraham Lim. A world premiere, no less! No one’s even allowed to do a full review on it yet because they’re keeping the film under wraps until its official release later this year. But you can go see it at the SFIAAFF before the rest of the world does. After all, the promo image for this movie is a fortune cookie that says, “Eat Me”. (Oh, how much more a loaded message it is now than when Alice first read it.) Got to find out what happens.

And new this year, Hyphen is going to be one of the Festival’s official bloggers. Click here for a special blog page dedicated to reviews, buzz, musings and hopefully dirt about the SFIAAFF.

So we’ll see you at the movies, and you can dish with us after on the blog. Happy movie-going!
This May (APA Heritage Month), Hyphen will be celebrating our favorite men of the Asian American community—activists, organizers, teachers, leaders, and beneficiaries of Asian American nonprofits and causes—with our first ever Mr. Hyphen contest! Participants will compete on stage in several exciting rounds:
